About Elision Publications
Elision started as an idea that our percussion group, Atlas Percussion, could start a publishing company that would better represent the compositions and composers that we knew. We were sitting in a motel pool (on break from rehearsals) talking about the publishing world. Kyle mentioned that he had an idea for a new company that would focus on works that were passed over by high-volume publishers because they likely would not generate enough sales. We know there are many unknown and underrepresented artists in the world, and we want to do our part to give them a voice. We were thrilled to welcome Nicki Roman to our team in May 2021 as our Outreach Director. She is an excellent musician and human being whom we met at UW-Milwaukee, where she and Alex are colleagues and duo partners in the Romex Duo.
Combining our mission with a desire to generate less waste has also led to our electronic-only distribution platform. By keeping overhead low, we pass a higher percentage of the proceeds to the creators while giving a fair price to the consumers, who are hard-working artists, educators, and students. We hope our model provides consumers a way to connect with composers, leading to a more collaborative experience.
